These small spots on the nails can also be one of seven warnings of sarcoidosis, a disease that affects the skin, lungs and other organs. When the nail is soft and have white spots may be a sign of another condition of the nail. You should know that this may indicate that there are some problems with the thyroid gland – hypothyroidism. If the nail line is thin, it means that the disease was discovered in the early stage.

If you notice two narrow horizontal lines on one or more nails is a sign of hypoalbuminemia, that means that the albumin protein in the blood is low.
